West Ham put up a brave fight in their last match, at home to Arsenal, but ultimately they lost out to two late strikes as they went down 3-1. Sam Allardyce will feel his side were a little unfortunate to have lost the match, as they looked good value to hang on to a point, but overall the performance implies that west Ham United will continue their promising return to the Premier League.
Southampton are next to visit Upton Park, and we can expect a fiery encounter if last season's Championship clash is anything to go by! The two sides were neck and neck in their race for promotion back into the Premier League, and whilst West Ham ultimately had to make do with the play offs (which they deservedly won), it is they who have made a significantly stronger start this season. Everything points towards a return to winning ways for the Hammers, but if there's one thing Southampton are good at, it's upsetting the odds! West Ham travel to Wigan Athletic a week on Saturday, and it's unlikely that they will come out of these two games with anything less than three points from the six.
We Love You West Ham reflect on Luis Boa Morte, the former West Ham man has made a return to English football at Chesterfield, there's revenge on the agenda as Hammers prepare to face the Saints, and there's a look at Yossi Benayoun who has impressed in his brief appearances thus far, and could be rewarded with a start against Southampton.
The Game's Gone Crazy have an amusing look at some of the expensive signings West Ham have made in the past, with little or no return on the pitch, and there's a look at the on-going controversy surrounding West Hams proposed move to Stratford, and into the Olympic Stadium.
Hammers In The Heart have a look at the injury to Ricardo Vaz Te who is to be side-lined for up to three months with a shoulder injury, there's news of new book "The Joy Of Essex" which is released 30th October and contains some essential West Ham reading, and there's speculation on Andy Carroll perhaps being recalled by Liverpool in January following injury troubles of their own.
Finally a big shoutout to West Ham Till I Die who sit third in our Top Blogs Ranking this month as the best of our West Ham United Top Blogs!
